How do I apply Coupland Leather Balm?
Start by ensuring your leather item is clean and completely dry. Then follow these steps for best results:
-
Patch Test First Apply a small amount of balm to a hidden area to preview how the leather will respond, especially important for lighter shades, which may darken slightly as they absorb the natural oils.
-
Use Sparingly A little goes a long way. Leather is porous and will begin absorbing the balm immediately. Starting with a small amount helps minimise any temporary darkening.
-
Apply Evenly Use a soft cloth or our dauber brush to massage the balm into the surface of the leather. For detailed areas or stitching, our detail brush is especially useful.
-
Let It Dry Most of the balm will absorb into the leather. However, beeswax, one of the key ingredients, remains on the surface and should be gently buffed with a horsehair brush or clean shop rag. This seals the wax and adds a layer of protection against the elements.
-
Reapply as Needed Use the balm periodically to restore, protect, and extend the life of your favourite leather goods.
